Volunteer Code of Conduct
This Code of Conduct sets out the standards we ask every volunteer to uphold while representing The Reset Foundation. It exists to keep our people, the communities we serve, and the environment safe — and to make sure everyone has a positive, respectful experience on our drives and at our events.
Respect and inclusion
- ✓Treat everyone — fellow volunteers, staff, community members and the public — with courtesy, dignity and respect.
- ✓We welcome people of every background, gender, religion, caste, ability and age. Discrimination, harassment, bullying or intimidation of any kind will not be tolerated.
- ✓Listen to coordinators and be considerate of others' comfort, boundaries and beliefs.
Safety first
- ✓Attend the safety briefing before every drive and follow all instructions from coordinators.
- ✓Wear the gloves and protective equipment provided, and use tools only as demonstrated.
- ✓Do not handle hazardous waste (medical, chemical, sharp or unknown items) — flag it to a coordinator instead.
- ✓Stay within assigned zones, look out for one another, and stop and report any injury or unsafe situation immediately.
Environmental responsibility
- ✓Handle, sort and dispose of collected waste only as directed, so recyclables and hazardous items are managed correctly.
- ✓Respect wildlife, plants, waterbodies and private property at every site.
- ✓Lead by example — the way we work is part of the message we're trying to spread.
Integrity and representation
- ✓Act honestly and lawfully, and never use your association with The Reset Foundation for personal gain.
- ✓Do not make public statements, speak to media, or post on social media on the organisation's behalf without prior approval.
- ✓Report any real or perceived conflict of interest to a coordinator.
Protecting minors and vulnerable people
- ✓Volunteers under 18 must have parental/guardian consent and be supervised by an accompanying adult.
- ✓Never be alone with a child who is not your own; keep interactions in view of others.
- ✓Any concern about the welfare of a child or vulnerable person must be reported to a coordinator at once.
Substance-free participation
Volunteers must not be under the influence of alcohol or drugs at any drive or event. Anyone who appears impaired may be asked to leave for their own safety and that of others.
Confidentiality and data
Personal information you learn about other volunteers, donors or community members must be kept private and never shared or misused.
Breaches of this Code
The Reset Foundation may suspend or end a volunteer's involvement, without refund of any registration fee, where this Code is seriously or repeatedly breached. We will always try to resolve concerns fairly and respectfully first.
